rid-of-milia-honeyMilia are also known as milk spots and they are whitish or yellowish bumps appearing commonly around the eyes of under the eyes and can appear on forehead, chest, cheeks and nose. Even though they are generally harmless, they can be unsightly for some people. They are cysts filled with keratine and happen to also be very common in newborns, although they can affect practically anyone at any given age.

When the skin is not able to remove dead cells, it gives rise to clogged pores and this leads to the development of milia.

The condition can however also be triggered by skin care products that clog up the pores, steroid creams, sun damage and blistering injuries. If you are getting concerned about the milia even in the absence of any pain or itch, you can use home remedies to contain the situation and boost your confidence as far as beauty is concerned.

5 Natural Ways to Get Rid of Milia Under Eyes

Apply Honey

Honey has humectant and antioxidant properties and therefore helps in retaining skin moisture fighting dryness, but at the same time also helps in exfoliating the skin reducing the condition. Apply raw honey to the area and let it sit for at least 15 minutes before rinsing. You can also combine the honey with jojoba oil to start enjoying the improvements.

Use Castor Oil

The oil has antibacterial and healing properties which control oil production making it a great remedy for milia. Apply the oil onto the area and let absorption take place. It can also be mixed with olive oil and used the same way on a daily basis.

Make a Sugar Scrub

It is one of the best when it comes to exfoliating the skin and can be used together with olive oil and lemon juice to achieve a brighter and softer skin look. Add lemon juice to granule sugar and add a teaspoon of olive oil. Scrub the mixture onto the skin for several minutes and let it sit for at least 20 minutes before rinsing. The scrub can be done twice every week.

Use Vinegar and Cornstarch

This is a great remedy for whitehead milia because vinegar, preferably apple cider vinegar, works as an astringent whereas the cornstarch absorbs the excess oil from the skin. Make a paste using the two and apply to affected areas and leave for half an hour before using a warm, damp washcloth to remove the paste before rinsing the skin. You should see impressive changes in a few days.

Apply Rose Water and Sandalwood

They together eliminate excessive oils that lead to the development of milia and get rid of dead cells thus improving the condition. Make a smooth paste and spread it on the skin and leave for 15 minutes. You can then use cool water to rinse and pat the skin dry.

Other great remedies you can use to get rid of milia are tea tree oil, pomegranate peel powder, aloe Vera and fenugreek leaves all of which have properties that improve the skin issue fast.
